Alaska’s Great Race might be the Iditarod, but the modern day take on the race is the Iron Dog. Following the same trail as the Iditarod, riders take snowmobiles (called snowmachines here in Alaska) across 2000 miles of harsh tundra. This makes it the world’s longest – and harshest – snowmobile race.
This year, I’m proud to say my son has been selected as one of ten students to participate in a Rural Student Exchange, working at spots along the trail to help make the race run more smoothly, and in the process, learning more about our great state. If you are interested in learning more, visit their website.
Awesome Tam! Congratulations to your son!
Thanks, Casey. I’m one proud parent
What a wonderful opportunity. Hope he has fun and works too hard to get into trouble.:-)
